About Us

Our Mission

To provide education to health care workers and the public about the importance of early detection of mouth and throat cancer.

Our History

A Voice for Hope was founded in 2005 by a small but dedicated group of individuals. The organization incorporated in 2011 and is run entirely by volunteer members, donations, and grants. Since 2006, A Voice for Hope members have provided free head and neck cancer screenings to the thousands of NASCAR fans and during Relay for Life events. We have held screening events throughout the Southeastern United States. From 2009 to 2014, we screened over 5000 individuals and published 3 studies on our work.  Our screening events were held at Brickyard Motor Raceway in 2009, Bristol Motor Raceway from 2011-2014 and Kentucky Motor Raceway in 2013 and 2014.

Since 2014, we re-located to Los Angeles, California and are in the process of planning a mouth and throat cancer wellness event in collaboration with the Keck School of Medicine and Ralph’s Pharmacy. Our goal is to replicate the NASCAR screening event model in an urban setting and elsewhere. Please stay tuned for more updates.
